The Great North Woods Committee for the Arts Presents the Don Roy Trio
With performances at such noteworthy venues as the Library of Congress and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, French Canadian influences with a hint of Celtic are woven into this award winning trio's music. Sure to get your feet tapping!
From the Eastport Arts Center:
“Called “the quintessential Down-east fiddler” by Bau Graves, director of the Old Town School of Folk Music, Don Roy has garnered honors beyond counting, though his three Individual Artist Fellowships (1994, 2001 and 2008) from the Maine Arts Commission, given for excellence in the pursuit of traditional arts, must be noted.”
From The Berlin Daily Sun:
“Don has been a member of many successful groups including Bluegrass, Irish and French and directed the popular Maine French Fiddlers for its duration. Under his management for 11 years, the Maine French Fiddlers, a large fiddle orchestra played such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, The Barns at Wolf Trap, on the radio program “A Prairie Home Companion” and the National Folk Festival in Lowell, Mass.”
From The Bangor Daily News:
“This performance is an incredible opportunity to see this married duo of outstanding musicians in Washington County. Hailing from roots deep in the Maritimes and Quebec, the Roy’s musical passion lies with the French Canadian tradition followed closely by Celtic music.
